CIVIL WAR PRESERVATION TRUST ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF 2009 PRESERVATION AWARDS

ust got this in a newsletter today. While I don’t doubt that some of the folks receiving an award actually deserve to be recognized for a job well done I have reservations in thinking this fellow deserves as much as an “attaboy”

“National Park Service Preservationist of the Year Award: This award, which is presented to outstanding NPS personnel, went to John Latschar, Superintendent of Gettysburg National Military Park. In his tenure, Latschar has overseen a massive landscape restoration project across the battlefield, as well as the planning and construction of the new Visitor Center.”

Remember the very biased letters Mark and I received from this man after complaining about the one sided views at Gettysburg Battlefield Visitors Center? Yes this is the same man. I find it strange to be awarded for presenting lies and half truths as fact.

  1. The only award he should get is that of “PC Poster Child”. Oh, you can throw in “Lincoln Brown-Noser of the Year” and “Greatest Proponent of Yankee History” as well. Make a nice matching set on his mantle.
